Tips For Feeding Your Pet Canary the Proper Diet

Feeding your pet canary the proper diet is essential.  Most importantly, it will help him remain healthy.  If you have a male, he will also be happier, so he'll sing more often.  If you don't know what to feed him, keep reading.  This article will give you a few tips for feeding your canary the proper diet.

Seed

Seed should be the main part of your canary's diet.  He can survive on just seed alone, although he should be fed a balanced diet just like humans.  There are many different varieties of canary seed available, so you'll have various options to choose from.

Egg

You should also feed your pet canary boiled eggs regularly.  This will help increase his intake of protein.  Feeding eggs mixed with biscuits is especially important if you want to breed your bird.

Water

It should go without saying that your bird will need water.  It's best to have fresh water available on a daily basis.  These small birds have a fast metabolism.  If they're deprived of water for too long, they will quick die of thirst.

Fruits/Veggies

Your pet canary should also be fed fruits and vegetables.  Fruits and vegetables are good for their minerals and vitamins.  Canaries usually like fruits such as grapes and apples.  Popular vegetables include lettuce, watercress, spinach, and corn on the cob.

Snacks

Just like humans, canaries enjoy snacks too.  So, make sure you provide a treat for your buddy every once in a while.  Popular snack choices include millet spray and honey stick.

Text From Adam Smith "The Wealth of Nations" (1776), Book IV, Chapter II (Pp 401-402)

Adam Smith was a strong proponent of the division of labor, which he saw as an essential contributor to the 'wealth of nations.' In the first paragraph of the text, he encouraged specialization amongst the workforce along the lines of each workers' particular talents - i.e., the tailor makes clothes, shoemakers make shoes, farmer harvests crops. Out of self-interest, each of these workers is employed in their particular trade.

However, this activity yields another important characteristic of the 'economic man' for Smith, a propensity to exchange. Through the division of labor and specialization, labor productivity increases momentously. Each worker produces excess over their own subsistence with knowledge of consumer demands in order to trade part of their produce with others for "whatever else they have occasion for." It is the propensity to exchange that makes humans unique. If the farmer were to make their own clothes and shoes, this would be characterized as completely self-sufficient and, therefore, people would be no different than animals.

One of the painstaking tasks Smith set out to accomplish in his text was to describe how people in society can act in accordance to their own self-interest and, yet, the world still contains a natural order. Smith argued that it is beneficial for individuals to 'employ their capital,' based on how it would benefit them rather than considering the effects their actions have on the welfare of society at large. This is because Smith believed that buying from others goods if they are cheaper than goods made at home involves a harmony of interests.

Wealth, in the Smithian frameworks, referred to the level of consumption in real goods. Implied in the second paragraph of the text is the idea that a nation (and, therefore, individuals within that nation) would obtain wealth by employing labor endowment in industries it is most suited for and trading with foreign nations along the lines of absolute advantage. In doing so, individuals are better off because they have access to more and cheaper goods, while society as a whole is also improved because its industry is thus 'employed with the greatest advantage.'

Smith viewed capital to be an important discussion and, in fact, devoted Book II to the subject. The amount of industry in an economy, as seen in paragraph two of this text, will be 'proportional to the capital which employs it.' For this to be true, Smith distinguished labor into two categories - productive and unproductive labor. Only productive labor, such as manufacturing, adds value to an economy because the goods that are produced can be used to continually reproduce other goods throughout industry. The productivity of the aforementioned tailor, shoemaker, and farmer all greatly rely on tools and machines to perform their trade efficiently. Capital, therefore, determines the amount of industry in an economy due to its long-term use in producing real goods - essentially, wealth.

In paragraph three of this text, Smith argued growth in an industry depending proportionally on the growth of capital. A landowner who employs a substantial amount of musicians, servants, and other unproductive labor will see their industry shrink because their tasks provides no tangible value but disappears upon completion. Conversely, if the same landowner were to purchase tools and equipment to make his land more fertile, they would reap a harvest from it and enjoy a proportional growth in the industry.

Articulated in this example is an important prerequisite Smith emphasized in order for capital to augment through savings. Unlike self-interest or the propensity to exchange, saving is not a general aspect of human nature, but is followed by people who are clever and industrious in acknowledging time preference in making economic decisions. In short, an industry grows proportionally to growth of capital and capital, in turn, augments at a proportional rate to savings.

Smith was an advocate of laissez-fair, laissez-passer and, as such, was arguing against the mercantilists and their policies of bilateral trade agreements and the imposing of trade barriers. Essentially, as articulated in the first paragraph of this text, such regulations are either 'useless' or even 'hurtful' to domestic policy, according to Smith. Such mercantilist policies give the home market a monopoly, but disrupt the harmony and natural order of the world by altering the manner in which people decide to employ their capital. The immediate result, which Smith articulated in paragraph three, must necessarily be a decrease in one's wealth and the diminishing of both capital and industry. Therefore, developing a new enterprise interferes with the invisible hand of the economy and is strongly discouraged because it prevented capital and industry from 'find(ing) out their natural employments.'

Pit Bull Terrier Dog Grooming Tips and Advice

Keeping your Pit Bull healthy can be a full-time job. He requires lots of love and attention, routine well check-ups with the veterinarian, teeth cleaning, and training. A big part of your time will be spent on keeping your Pit Bull clean and neatly groomed. Grooming and cleanliness will not only make your Pit Bull more appealing to the eye, but can help make him healthier. Grooming is also a good way to get extra bonding time in with your Pit Bull, making you have a better dog-owner relationship. Before you begin, you should purchase some grooming supplies. You will probably need a brush or comb, shampoo, and towels. Your vet can probably recommend the best grooming tools for your particular Pit Bull.

Don't expect your Pit Bull to like his grooming routine at first, but if you do it often, he will soon become accustomed to it. Using a wide toothed comb can help make grooming easier. You should start at his head and work your way to his tail, checking for any signs of parasites, unusual skin growths or mats of hair along the way. Before you finish, you should use a wire brush to help get rid of loose hairs.

When grooming, it is important not to forget about your Pit Bull's ears. They should be checked at every grooming session for dirt, or any signs of infection or parasites. Your veterinarian should be able to recommend a good ear wash that is safe for your Pit Bull. Don't try to clean inside his ear canal, as you may damage his hearing. If you see any signs of infection or parasites, or anything that is concerning, call your veterinarian for an appointment. Ear infections can be very painful and annoying for your Pit Bull.

Keeping your Pit Bulls nails trimmed when help make him more comfortable when he is walking and exercising. Not trimming his nails can lead to painful infections and ingrown nails. You should have your veterinarian teach you how to trim your Pit Bull's nails so that you won't clip him. Your Pit Bull's nail will probably need to be trimmed at least once every two weeks.

Keeping your Pit Bull clean and groomed is important for aesthetic purposes, as well as ensuring his health. Oftentimes, you will spot potentially worrisome problems during your routine grooming session that you might not otherwise know about until they had already became a major health issue. Spotting problems early can help get them treated before they affect your Pit Bull's health.

Stop Lower Back Pain in 4 Simple Steps

Back pain affects more people than almost any other ailment. From physically demanding jobs to office work parked in a chair, back pain disrupts people in every segment of society. The most common form of back pain occurs in the lower part of the spine.

The causes of lower back pain are just as widespread as the people it affects. In this article I will explain the root causes of lower back pain and how to manage this pain on a daily basis. For most, it is possible to do away with back pain entirely. The strategies explained here will help just about everyone be free of back pain.

The following are some of the most common causes of lower back pain:

1. Improperly lifting heavy objects - For people who lift heavy objects on a daily basis, back pain is almost inevitable. The way in which you lift objects is very important.

Putting the bulk of the weight on your legs will take a lot of the strain of your back. Squat like a catcher when you pick things up off the ground; do not bend over at the waist to lift objects on the ground.

2. Poor posture - The way you carry your body is a big part of back pain. People who slouch and do not square their shoulders while standing will inevitably have back problems -- most likely scoliosis, a condition that can deform the spine.

Practice standing up straight and squaring your shoulders. A good method is to stand with your back against the wall and push your shoulders and neck against the wall. This will give you a starting point for how you should carry your body. In short, listen to your mother and stand up straight!

Poor posture also applies to the way you sit and lay. Many people who sit on the couch let their body slide down so that their neck is bent at an extreme angle. This can lead to serious back pain and have potentially long term consequences.

3.Improper Breathing - Yes, there is an incorrect way to breath. Taking short breaths and not breathing fully through your diaphragm can lead to poor posture and poor circulation. Poor circulation will prevent proper blood flow and can often lead to muscle cramps, particularly in the back.

If you catch yourself slouching excessively, stand up and take a few deep breaths. Roll your shoulders back to front and front to back. Stretch your neck and upper body and go stand against the wall to straighten yourself out.

4. Stress - Stress has many negative effects on the body, including muscle tension. Time management, getting lots of sleep, and eating a healthy diet are a few ways to dramatically reduce stress - which will in turn reduce lower back pain.

Adjusting one's posture is a huge challenge for many people. In fact, most people who actively try to change the way they sit and stand will notice more back pain than they had before. But do not panic! This happens as a result of using the muscles in your back that were previously not used to fully support your weight.

Think of it as working out. Just starting out, you are likely to have sore muscles after a workout. But after a week or two, the soreness does not occur as often and your muscles can bear the strain much better than before. It is the same thing for back pain -- train your body to support your weight and in practically no time at all, back pain and soreness will disappear.

Lifting heavy objects, poor posture, improper breathing, and stress all affect the support system that keeps us upright -- our vertebrate. Following the methods I just discussed, you should be free of lower back pain in as little as a week.

NOTE: Another cause of lower back pain not discussed here is sciatica -- a pain caused by the sciatica nerve in your leg. This pain often travels up from the leg into the lower back, causing a sharp pain. Why a Cordless Portable Leaf Blower Could Come in Handy

In the last years many voice raised against leaf blowers, the main concerns being the noise and pollution levels they produce. We're talking of course about the petrol powered devices that where the most popular a couple of years ago and still are in some regions. That's because some states banned them in the US.

In order to get passed these problems, people reached their attention towards electric tools that offered a better price/performances rapport and were almost noiseless and pollution free. They however lacked the mobility. And here's where cordless battery powered leaf blowers jumped into the picture.

Cordless leaf blowers haven't been around for long but they're getting more and more popular year by year. They combine some of the advantages of gas and electric blowers, but have their own cons. we're going to start with those first.

First of all, cordless blowers are quite low powered. that's why they're good enough for sweeping decks and stairs and even driveways, but can't fight with lawns. I said sweep because this is actually what they are: cordless sweepers that blow air in order to gather debriefs.

Then, they require batteries to run, and here's the biggest problem: most of them can't run for longer then 30 minutes on one charge, and that's not satisfying enough. Considering also you would then have to recharge the battery and that will take an extra couple of hours to do.

So, with the cordless tools you get a quite powerless device with a limited amount of working time. But a portable and very light hand-held tool (usually around 3-4 pounds) that can still do its job: that of sweeping and cleaning plain surfaces. And since it's so small, you can easily use it inside the house if you want.

I must add that these devices lack the vacuum mode, they're just blowers/sweepers.

And in terms of prices, they are situated somewhere between electric and gas powered leaf blowers, as you can get a decent cordless leaf blower for around $60-$80 bucks right now (those are all sales prices available for a limited period of time) all from big brands like Stihl, Toro or Black & Decker .

Guitar Lessons - Playing Harmonics

A harmonic is a tone that's created by the guitar by touching the string above a fret on an open vibrating string. There are 2 types of harmonics Natural and Artificial or I prefer to call them pinch harmonics.

Natural Harmonics

Natural Harmonics can be produced by touching your index finger on your fret-hand above at the 5th, 7th or 12th fret. Just place your finger on the string above the fret, don't press to hard or you will mute the note, pluck the note and then pull your finger off. Try it on the A string.

E|------------| B|------------| G|------------| D|------------| A|----12------| E|------------|

Timing is critical when playing harmonics. The length of time you keep your finger on the string will determine if you hear a harmonic, muted sound or just a regular note. Natural harmonics occur in various locations along the fretboard. The most common ones are on the 5th, 7th, and 12th fret. The harmonics in those positions will ring for all 6 strings on the same fret. Try playing them in all 3 positions. Place your finger across all 6 strings and play from the Low E to the high E lifting your finger as your pick strikes each individual string. You have to work at this and it takes some time, but it sound so cool.

E|---------5-----|--------7-----|----------12---| B|--------5------|-------7------|--------12-----| G|-------5-------|------7-------|-------12------| D|------5--------|-----7--------|------12-------| A|-----5---------|----7---------|-----12--------| E|----5----------|---7----------|----12---------|

Pinch Harmonics

Pinch harmonics are done with the pick hand hand. I found this technique very difficult to master. The best method is to "choke" down on your pick so there is very little pick exposed between your thumb and your index finger. With time you'll learn the pick has to be mobile in your hand, and you will move it into different position depending on how you play. Now when you pluck a string with your pick the trick is to hit the pick first and then slightly twist your thumb so that it touches the string immediately after hitting the string.

Why play a pinch harmonic.....well because they are very cool when playing solos. You can combine string bends with pinch harmonics and vibrato to get totally cool sounding "squeals". They even sound great when you do them by accident. The trick is to devote some of your practice time everyday to just playing cool licks and try adding a pinch harmonic with some demonic vibrato. Oh yea, it makes you want to play more guitar because you can just create some of coolest sounds!
